“Bad Day To Be My Ex” sees Bellah Mae embrace empowerment, confidence, and a new era of pop storytelling.

Bellah Mae isn’t sugarcoating anything in her new single “Bad Day To Be My Ex.” The 23-year-old Solihull-born artist kicks off 2025 with a razor-sharp pop track that blends heartbreak with humor, swagger, and self-discovery.

The single, written with Brigetta Truitt in Nashville and produced by Brett Truitt, is the first of many set to arrive this year. “I’ve really learned that I don’t have to be too strong all the time — I can still be soft,” says Bellah. “But if you break my heart… I’ll write an absolutely savage song about you.”

Her lyrical style—deeply rooted in storytelling from a childhood of country music and cultural nostalgia—is on full display. A reference to herself as a “Gen-Z Pamela Anderson” cements her love for ‘90s pop culture icons who’ve reclaimed their narratives. “These are powerhouse women who have had to prove themselves over and over,” Bellah says, noting both Pamela and Dolly Parton as key inspirations.

Following the reflective tone of her 2024 EP Never Waste A Heartbreak, this new era of music reflects Bellah’s personal evolution: more confident, less apologetic, and fully embracing what it means to be herself.
