CATTY Unleashes “Joyride,” a Baroque-Pop Blast of Romance, Risk, and Raw Emotion

CATTY’s “Joyride” is a fearless follow-up to her 2024 breakout debut, out now via AWAL.
CATTY storms back with “Joyride,” her first release since the acclaimed debut EP Healing Out Of Spite. Released via AWAL and premiered on BBC Radio 1’s Future Pop, the single captures the chaos of giving in to someone you know could break you.
Written in “pure panic,” Joyride is both confession and catharsis, blending theatrical instrumentation with CATTY’s powerhouse vocal. “I’d sworn off love for 14 months… but I couldn’t stay away from her,” she says. “So Joyride is basically me saying, I’m all in, please don’t hurt me.”
The track traverses emotional highs and lows with lines like “I don’t even care if I get out alive.” The forthcoming music video, inspired by a sapphic Thelma & Louise, features Amy Spalding and promises cinematic flair.
CATTY’s 2024 breakout was one for the books: opening for Stevie Nicks at BST Hyde Park, selling out headline shows, and earning major press nods from NME, CLASH, Popjustice, and Official Charts.
She plays The Great Escape on May 15, headlines CloseUp Festival on May 22, performs at Birmingham Pride on May 24, and joins the Latitude Festival lineup this July.
Joyride is out now—stream it everywhere.
