Darren Kiely drops “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road,” two moving songs exploring love, nostalgia, and identity. Out now via Free Flight Records.
Darren Kiely continues to carve out his place as a masterful storyteller with the release of two new tracks, “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road.” Out now via Free Flight Records, both songs offer a deep emotional connection, touching on themes of love, memory, and personal growth.
With an upbeat yet reflective feel, “Mulcair Road” explores the experience of revisiting a childhood place that has changed over time. Written with Ross Ellis, Joe Fox, and Geoff Warburton, the song balances wistful lyricism with driving guitar rhythms. “It describes the expectation of familiarity and safety but the realization that time has passed and what you left isn’t there anymore,” Kiely explains.
Meanwhile, “Old & Grey” embraces a more melancholic tone, blending poetic lyrics with soft whistles and a mid-tempo instrumental arrangement. Written with Joe Fox and Geoff Warburton, the song captures the emotional weight of losing a loved one and the lasting impact they leave behind. “It expresses how we can lose our identity without those we love the most,” Kiely shares.
As he continues his Never Been Here Before World Tour, these songs mark another step in his artistic evolution. Kiely’s ability to weave universal emotions into his music ensures that “Old & Grey” and “Mulcair Road” will resonate with fans old and new alike.
Both tracks are available now on all major streaming platforms.
