Singer-songwriter Diva Smith makes an unforgettable first impression with “Better in Heaven,” a debut single that blends poignant storytelling, soaring melodies, and layered production. The track introduces her “Therapy Pop” sound, which captures raw emotion and deep introspection.
Speaking about the song’s theme, Diva shares:
“‘Better in Heaven’ reflects on the feelings of hopelessness and confusion that come along with a first heartbreak; the worry that the sinking feeling will never pass, and hoping to every god that you don’t even believe in that it will. It explores the trials and triumphs that come along with healing, and resolves itself in knowing that as time passes, feelings pass too.”
The song was co-written and produced by Stella Smyth, a collaborator Diva met in a music business class at NYU. Their first creative session happened over Zoom during the pandemic, forming a partnership that has continued to evolve. Additional production was provided by GRAMMY-nominated producer Marty MARO (TWICE, Anitta, Selena Gomez), adding richness to the final mix.
With “Better in Heaven,” Diva sets the foundation for her career, offering listeners an emotional yet uplifting musical experience. Expect more from her in 2025.
