Empara Mi’s new single “Masochist” blends cinematic visuals and sonic intensity in her darkest chapter yet.

Empara Mi returns with “Masochist,” the second chapter of her immersive album Monsters & Masochists, continuing her reputation for unflinching emotion and high-concept storytelling. Following the quiet devastation of “I Can’t,” “Masochist” is a full-throttle descent into obsession, anger, and destruction—rendered through haunting piano, layered synths, and theatrical production.

“This song in particular I sort of went full ‘cinema’ on,” Empara Mi explains. “I’ve always been very enamoured by the Bond movie soundtracks… I actually put up a Bond trailer on YouTube, muted it and wrote the song so I could experience the character I was trying to become.”

The visual elevates the concept even further. In the video, Empara Mi channels her training in martial arts, appearing as a sword-wielding figure who is both delicate and dangerous. It’s a striking metaphor for the tension within the song, and part of the artist’s larger mission to turn grief into performance.

The video follows the breakout success of “I Can’t,” which garnered over 800k views in just two weeks, cementing Empara Mi’s status as a multidisciplinary artist to watch.

Each track in Monsters & Masochists represents a stage of emotional transformation. “Masochist” is where surrender turns to rage, marking one of the most visceral moments in the narrative arc.

With this release, Empara Mi further blurs the line between music, cinema, and performance art—continuing her ascent as one of the most innovative voices redefining pop on her own terms.
