Grace VanderWaal’s ‘Babydoll’ featuring Aliyah’s Interlude kicks off her next chapter

Grace VanderWaal releases ‘Babydoll,’ a vibrant and bold new single featuring Aliyah’s Interlude, marking her artistic evolution.
Grace VanderWaal introduces an exciting new phase in her career with “Babydoll”, her latest single featuring Aliyah’s Interlude. The song’s upbeat, bratty energy contrasts with the reflective tone of “What’s Left of Me”, further expanding her musical palette. The track is accompanied by a Sophie Hur-directed music video that visually captures the song’s confident and playful essence.
Speaking about the track, VanderWaal shares:
“In the studio, we were talking about acting bratty, going out, wanting everything, and being a diva. Tiffany Stringer and I had the idea to write a song from our alter ego’s perspective. We named mine Baby Doll: who doesn’t like to be told no. I had an amazing time writing and creating it.”
The release follows a remarkable 2024, during which VanderWaal captivated audiences with a Kennedy Center Honors performance and made her film debut in Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis alongside Adam Driver and Laurence Fishburne. The film premiered at Cannes, earning a seven-minute standing ovation.
VanderWaal initially gained recognition with her 2016 EP Imperfectly Perfect, which became the best-selling EP of the year, landing in the Billboard 200 Top 10. She later released Just The Beginning and toured with Florence + the Machine and Imagine Dragons. With multiple awards, including the Teen Choice Award and Billboard’s Rising Star Award, she continues to evolve as both an artist and performer.
Now independent, VanderWaal is embracing a new creative direction, setting the tone for an exciting next chapter in her career.
