Healy Returns with “RUNNING LAPS,” an Introspective New Chapter in His Story

“RUNNING LAPS” is Healy’s first release in two years—an indie-pop confessional on breaking internal cycles.
Genre-defying Memphis artist Healy returns with his new single “RUNNING LAPS,” his first release since 2023. Known for his introspective songwriting and 200M+ global streams, Healy explores the mental loops we fall into—and what it takes to escape them.
“Am I departing from my old self and habits, or have I been just self-sabotaging and giving up when the going gets tough?” Healy says. “The imagery that came to mind was that iconic photo of Muhammad Ali looking over Sonny Liston — my higher self being down on the ground.”
The release follows Healy’s Look at God EP and builds on a career that includes collaborations with Cautious Clay and co-signs from SZA. His earlier releases, Subluxe and Tungsten, established him as a unique voice in indie-pop and alternative R&B.
Growing up in Memphis, Healy’s musical influences included church choirs, soul legends like Earth, Wind & Fire, and Southern hip-hop. Though trained in physical therapy, his passion for music led him to release his debut album independently in 2017, before joining RCA Records.
With “RUNNING LAPS,” Healy signals a new chapter—one filled with honesty, growth, and creative reinvention. More is on the way.
