Jax Jones launches a new era with “Bad Boys,” a genre-pushing track shaped by exploration and reinvention.

Jax Jones begins his next chapter with the high-octane single “Bad Boys,” a genre-bending collaboration with Rebecca Black and co-producer sooyeon. Released via Astralwerks and forward-thinking label Eastern Margins, the track brings together underground club heat, glossy pop flair, and global subcultural energy.

After moving to Bangkok at the end of 2023, Jax Jones—real name Timucin Lam—began exploring the vibrant nightlife and sonic experimentation happening across East and Southeast Asia. Immersing in the “redline” sound—defined by label Eastern Margins as high-speed, limit-pushing audio—he’s emerged with a bolder, rawer sound.

“I wanted to immerse myself in sub-genres like budots from the Philippines,” Jones says. “It’s reshaped the way I discover and create music.”

“Bad Boys” is the culmination of this journey. With Rebecca Black, a voice of queer pop culture known for her recent project SALVATION, and sooyeon, a London-based artist synonymous with bass-heavy sets and bold reworks, the track fuses identities, genres, and scenes.

“It’s such a fun and addictive track—I’m obsessed,” says sooyeon. Eastern Margins adds: “This link-up is a full circle moment… celebrating maximalist subculture from East and Southeast Asia.”
