Luke Combs Channels Tradition in “Back In The Saddle” With Dale Jr. and Richard Petty

Luke Combs drops “Back In The Saddle,” a song and video rich in nostalgia, pride, and legacy.
In a move that combines personal passion and artistic power, Luke Combs releases “Back In The Saddle,” a single that reconnects him to his roots while advancing his country music journey. The video, directed by Tyler Adams, stars legendary drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Richard Petty—two names that resonate deeply in Southern and American culture.
Combs stated: “So much work goes into making these songs, so much time we spend making them, from the studio writing them to the videos. I got to make the video with Dale Jr. and Richard Petty, which is a total dream come true. My grandpa would be rolling over in his grave in a good way if he knew that I got to hang out with Richard Petty and Dale Jr.”
Created with longtime collaborators Dan Isbell and Jonathan Singleton, and produced alongside Chip Matthews, the track carries a confident and reflective tone, embodying the themes of return and renewal.
“Back In The Saddle” extends a monumental year for Combs. Following high-profile appearances at events like Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza and Newport Folk Festival, Combs has also received top honors, including 155.5 million RIAA-certified units and multiple Diamond singles.
Beyond the music, Combs is a community figure—partnering on Category 10 in Nashville and supporting major causes like Hurricane Helene relief. With Fathers & Sons showcasing personal depth and “Back In The Saddle” offering cultural flair, Combs continues his ascent as one of the genre’s defining voices.
