Explore Olly Alexander’s heartfelt single “When We Kiss” from his upcoming album Polari, available February 7.
British pop star Olly Alexander has dropped his newest single, “When We Kiss,” a moving track taken from his forthcoming album, Polari. The album, set to release on February 7, explores themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Accompanied by a visually striking music video directed by Colin Solal Cardo, “When We Kiss” captures the raw emotion of navigating a complicated relationship.
Discussing the inspiration behind the track, Olly reveals, “‘When We Kiss’ is an epic love song about a difficult moment in a relationship, when you don’t know whether you should break up or if you should stay together forever. I wanted this song to reflect those conflicted feelings, all the pain and ecstasy of loving someone. I believe heartbreak and synthesizers are made for each other, and I had the best time making this with my Polari partner Danny L Harle. Our aim was to take the listener on a rapturous journey of heartfelt emotion, from anguish to euphoria and back again.”
“When We Kiss” is the fourth single from Polari. It follows the album’s lead single, “Cupid’s Bow,” as well as the vibrant title track, “Polari,” which Queerty called “pure ’80s adrenaline.” The album’s most recent single, “Archangel,” was praised by Billboard as an “Editor’s Pick” for its delicate synth-pop melodies and lush sound.
Stream “When We Kiss” now on all platforms and prepare for the arrival of Polari on February 7.
