Robin Cisek’s self-directed “Rumor” video transforms digital rumors into a story of reclamation.

Alt-pop artist Robin Cisek channels lived experience into creative power in the new music video for “Rumor.” Released alongside her album Tempered, the self-conceived video dives into the emotional reality of being misrepresented online.

The concept is simple but impactful — Cisek appears with a phone over her face, its screen displaying lips that sing her lyrics. It’s a visual metaphor for how easily one’s voice can be overshadowed in the digital world.

“This video is my way of taking back control and reclaiming my identity,” she says. “So many people hide behind their devices, spreading rumours and tearing people down without any accountability. I wanted to turn that painful experience into something that feels empowering — something that reminds others that they’re not alone.”

The song appears on Tempered, which Cisek released independently on May 30. The album contains seven tracks, all written by her, and recorded mostly from her home studio.

“Rumor” stands as one of the most personal moments on the record, and its accompanying video doubles as a visual diary of resilience. By reclaiming her narrative through art, Cisek provides not just a song or a story — but a message of strength.
