Sam Garrett’s One Family, his forthcoming album set for a summer release, is a sweeping musical journey steeped in the ideals of love, revolution, and spiritual remembrance. Anchored by the rhythms of folk and reggae, the album draws inspiration from 60s icons while speaking directly to today’s societal need for connection.

“This album is my ode to the freedom movements of the 60s and the music expressed by the youth of that time,” says Garrett.

The emotional scope of the project spans affirming light and difficult truth. In “Hey Amma,” with Jamaican artist Mortimer, Garrett addresses the legacy of colonialism with haunting vulnerability: “I am the coloniser’s son, the one who won’t obey, the dream that you once had has turned into decay.”

Garrett reflects further: “Freedom is our nature and this album is a reflection of that.”
