Tanner Adell Finds Power in Truth With New Single “Going Blonde”

Tanner Adell’s “Going Blonde” explores identity, adoption, and healing in her most personal release yet.
Tanner Adell reveals her most personal story to date with “Going Blonde,” a striking new single that explores her experience with adoption and the discovery that changed everything. Known for her fierce confidence and genre-blending country-pop sound, Adell shifts into more intimate territory—offering listeners a glimpse into the moment that redefined her sense of self.
After taking a DNA test gifted by her adoptive parents, Adell found her biological brother—and with him, the truth that her birth mother had passed away, and that her adoption story was not what she had believed. “In some ways, that very adoption was a mistake,” the release states.
“I’m really putting my heart out there to be completely examined,” Adell shares. “This is a way I’m going to keep her close.”
Her connection to her birth mother—seen only in a photo—was shaped by the woman’s resemblance to Dolly Parton. Inspired by Parton’s debut single “Dumb Blonde” and her own natural highlights, Adell began to reframe her identity through music, image, and emotional expression.
The single follows a breakout year in which Adell was named a People Artist to Watch and recognized by The New York Times, Billboard, Notion, NPR, and more. This week alone, she’s performed at the GLAAD Awards and is set to present at Billboard Women In Music.
“Going Blonde” marks the beginning of an even more authentic era for Adell, who continues to connect with fans not only through her music—but now, through her truth.
